UPDATE: 31ST MARCH 2010
We are happy to announce that PAYPAL is now up and running through our "Favourite Links" page....every penny you donate really does make a difference to the rescue. Other News.... Fred a cat previously brought into us the middle of February after his owner couldn't afford to keep him, has made residance at the rescue. He did take a short visit to adopters which didn't work out with their other cat. Fred has really settled down since his return and left to roam the grounds with all the other residents. He really is a cutie as this recent photo shows!

We have recently acquired 2 hens....Betty and Doreen...One of our volunteers was asked would he take on a hen that was being kept in a multi-storey flat...how could he say no. He has made in-roads to speaking with the Battery Hen Welfare Trust who rescue hens from battery farms (once they are not laying eggs on a regular basis) and they gave to us Doreen to keep Betty company till we can get a few more rescue birds on their next dispatch to suitable lifesavers throughout the U.K. Of course the funding for the birds will not interfere with the funding we receive for the cats we rescue. Some of our volunteers sponsor separate amounts of money for them along with the 2 goats and 1 rabbit we have. As the birds are still laying they should in fact pay for their feed with the sales of their eggs. They are indoors at present but on good weather days they have a pen in the field where the goats live. Good Cluck to the birdies!!
We are still looking for green fingered volunteers to help with our gardens at the rescue....it is not a huge space but as the regular volunteers tend to the cats in our care and other day to day jobs required, the gardens are taking a back seat. Really it does need a 'makeover' in readiness for all this hot weather we hope to have.
One of our former residents Cleo has now found her loving home with one of our evening volunteers. "Night Linda" has a passion for cats like most of us and prefers female cats to males....Cleo has been the perfect match. You may remember that she needed some very necessary surgery for cancer to the area near her mammary glands. Our vet is pretty sure he has caught of the growths and that Cleo enjoys the many months and years of her life as normal as any other cat. We are not sure how much time that will be but for now Cleo is enjoying everything life has ot offer.....We all wish her well...

Update 16 February 2010 Just a little bit of good news....You may remember we had a cat called Jess dumped at our gates early December...He needed major surgery to his right ear canal after a build of polyps were causing him great discomfort. Well, surgery and stitches all in the past, Jess - now called Ted ( as I have another Jess at home) has finally settled in with my other cats...or should I say they are finally accepting that this one is staying put! NEWS UPDATE: At long last!!!! ..... 02 February 2010.....
Firstly can I apologise for the lack of news on this website. Various reasons and sometimes just not enough hours in the day to juggle everything about. Sue, who volunteers at weekends and myself have access to this page so shoot one of us if you don't see any updates here! I cannot say how sorry we are for this.
Well then, the Christmas Fayre...we raised in excess I think of £1600.00 and with other outside donations it brought it to about £3000.00. I must say that this amount was certainly in need and has been put straight into the bank. Unfortunately though the end of the year brings the start to another and bills for liability insurance, electric and other things has soon swooped the money away. We have had to transfer money that we save for rainy days...well for snowy ones and now wet and windy ones. The weather definitely let us know that is was going to cost us. Volunteers from Rochdale, Derker, Shaw and other areas were unable to |
