Sponsorship
At Oldham Cats it is one of our policies that no healthy cat is EVER put to sleep. Cats stay with us until they are found loving homes. However we sometimes get cats in who are with us for some time, it could be because of behaviour problems, health problems, age or some reason we can never quite understand! Since it would be unfair to leave them shut up in cages for a long time we let these 'residents' live with us. They have the freedom to roam the lovely gardens and safe fields around the cattery and they come in to sleep in the cattery or office at night. Usually most of them are to be found sprawled in the many beds around the office, being fussed by our volunteers or sunning themselves on the driveway.
There are no roads or other dangers near the cattery so they really love it and there's always plenty of cat lovers around to give them attention (and bits of their lunch!).
Many of them are 'un-rehomable', perhaps because they've been strays for so long they can't settle in a home environment, because they aren't really 'people cats' or because they need expensive medication. To help us pay for the keep of these cats we set up a sponsorship scheme.
The requested donations for sponsorship are:
MONTHLY- £5 (adult), £2.50 (concessionary)
YEARLY- £50 (adult), £25 (concessionary)
These are just 'suggested donations', we will accept less depending on how much you can afford to pay. Any donation, no matter how small or large, helps us to keep these cats.
