'In every rescued animals eyes, there's a volunteers heart'
Have you ever considered volunteering? Every single full furry tummy, every healed wound, every purr at our little rescue only happens because somebody cared enough to help. When you volunteer you are not just cleaning a cage or filling a food bowl - you are giving scared, neglected or abandoned cats a chance of love and safety. That time you give could mean they are safe and happy for the rest of their lives.

But you are not just benefitting the cats. You are joining a community of people that believe that every life is precious, and you are putting kindness into the world. Being a part of something wholesome that is bigger than yourself just fills your heart in a way you can never explain. But don't take our word for it, hear from some of our volunteers............
Please get in touch if you are considering volunteering
'When I first started, I needed to boost my self esteem, which it certainly did! I made lots of new friends along the way and I class Oldham cats as my safe and happy place'
It is a privilege to be part of such a fantastic rescue, where every person is a volunteer. Being able to help so many furbabies when they most need it is really rewarding, and it's wonderful to see the feedback from adopters when they have settled into their forever homes. xx
I was lost and nothing made any sense, I was looking for something to give my life some more meaning. I never dreamed how much it would fulfil me and how it would give me a whole new family. Its the best decision I ever made

I’m quite new to Oldham cat rescue but as a carer, I wanted something for me … Boosts my confidence meeting like minded ppl who adore our furry friends It helps me regarding my mental health wellbeing and it’s the best decision I’ve ever made Also met some beautiful lovely people along the way
It's very rewarding coming to a place that is full of dignity, respect, care and love. Who welcome the most vulnerable of animals, the young and the old, at the most scariest times of their lives. With the love, time, and dedication of all the wonderful volunteers, these beautiful cats/kittens go on to have the most wonderful lives, and that's so fulfilling to know that a small contribution makes a difference. It's a very humbling experience, and Oldham Cat Rescue is a lovely place of be a part of
When we have hobbies and interests, they reflect our personality. This is lovely. But when we volunteer at a wonderful place like Oldham Cats, this reflects our common humanity. Nothing in the world is more valuable than this.
When you go to the rescue to pick your new family friend and see and meet the other volunteers and how passionate they are about the rescue makes me proud to be a part of such a special caring team
Improves self-esteem , confidence and wellbeing. Something to look forward to and a sense of purpose since retirement. Meeting and volunteering with a lovely, friendly team of people who all have the same aim ; to improve lives and find new homes for cats / kittens in the rescue.
Personally I love cats and kittens so I get a 'kitten-fix' every week. I love being part of the team and knowing that we make a difference to the lives of the cats in our care. The team also makes a difference to the lives of volunteers, friendships are created that live beyond the walls of the Rescue.
OC is a fab place. I have had cats all my life, have always had an innate love for them, adore being around them and will do anything at all to help them . It’s just pure instinct
Since starting at the rescue I've discovered a unique family, fellow volunteers who like me find joy and purpose in changing cats lives for the better
I started volunteering before I retired as something to start replacing work. I guessed it wasn't just cuddling cats and kittens but I certainly didn't expect the range of things that needed to be done. From cleaning cages, administering medication, learning to deal with shy or friendly cats, semi-feral or pure love-bugs, cleaning rooms, litter trays, toys and bedding to gardening, clearing conkers and DIY !! There is certainly something for everyone and any amount of help is appreciated.
